Summer Slowly Begins
Having not visited Moraine Lake since September the year before, I was eagerly awaiting the road's opening in 2017. I was one of the first people down the road once Parks Canada removed the barriers, and the scene quickly went from summery at Lake Louise village back to the very beginning of the spring thaw up at the lake. Snowdrifts waist high were still piled up all around the lodge and on the Rockpile track, and the crowds were minimal, which meant that I could easily savour views like this without sharing them with everyone in Banff (as is often the case later in the summer).
